It was a pleasure to frame the wonderful Megan Rooney’s latest works for her show Yellow Yellow Blue at Ely House, London. The show is open until the 2nd August, and on 27th July there will be a special late opening and performance directed by the artist. Learn more and RSVP here.

We were delighted to exhibit at this year’s Museums + Heritage Show—our first time participating in this leading event for the museums galleries and heritage sector. Sharing space with many respected industry professionals, suppliers, and longstanding collaborators made it a truly memorable experience.

In the second instalment of our Japanese conservation series, Frame London’s own Leina Taylor travels to the serene northern region of Japan, exploring the materials that shape our daily work at the forefront of conservation framing. Nestled at the foot of Mount Gassan lies a small papermaking studio, home to the craft of making Gassan washi—a traditional Japanese paper known for its strength, flexibility, and durability.

After completing an MA in the conservation of works on paper while working at Frame London, Leina Taylor embarked on a 5-month internship focused on Japanese paintings conservation in Yamagata—a small city in the northern Tohoku region of Japan. During her time there, she deepened her understanding of traditional materials and techniques, as well as the nuanced differences in conservation philosophies between the UK and Japan.

We have framed countless Linder photomontages over the years and we were thrilled to be able to frame her photomontages for Danger Came Smiling. The works were mounted within thick museum mounts and housed in a combination of simple black wooden frames and Linder’s signature aluminium frames in black, gold and silver with 99% UV protective Artglass.

Emily and Daniel caught up with Donna in her studio to deliver one of her editions, to talk framing and the process of making ‘The Hag’, the latest of our FRAME Editions, a series of artist collaborations in which the frame becomes part of the artwork. (Available to buy here now).

This is the first major solo exhibition in the UK of work by Megan Rooney (b. 1985, South Africa). Her paintings have an irresistible life and energy, renewing the potential of abstraction to embody the richness of the visual world.
